The new playlist for encouraging eco-friendly habits!
Eco-friendly habits are simple, everyday initiatives that everyone can take to shrink our impact on the environment. These green actions are designed to save our natural resources (water, electricity and gas), cut down on waste, contain pollution and protect biodiversity. Eco-friendly habits often zero in on responsible consumption, energy reduction, rational water usage, waste management, sustainable mobility and nature protection.
Our tenants at FAC-HABITAT are eco-citizens!
We have produced a series of videos on eco-friendly habits featuring eight tenants to raise awareness about responsible consumption and to tell you all about more environmentally-friendly measures.
In partnership with SMERRA, these videos show you how to save energy and water and to embrace more eco-responsible behaviour in your everyday life. We're of the firm belief that every little gesture counts to help preserve our planet, and we hope that these videos will be a source of inspiration as you go about your daily business.
You can watch the videos on SMERRA’s YouTube channel. If we adopt these simple habits on a day-to-day basis, we can all help safeguard our planet and build a more sustainable future.
Eco-friendly habits: a handful of examples
Drive down your electricity consumption
To reduce your electricity consumption, it’s a good idea to turn off the lights when you leave a room, use low-energy light bulbs, don’t leave your electrical appliances on standby (turn them off completely), and keep the temperature at a reasonable level in your accommodation.
Reduce your water consumption
The best way to reduce water consumption is to take a shower rather than a bath, turn off the tap when you’re brushing your teeth or washing your hands, and collect rainwater to water your plants.
Cut your waste consumption
Buying products with less packaging and using re-usable bags for shopping are two constructive, simple day-to-day habits for cutting waste - just like sorting your garbage and composting.
Responsible mobility
Prioritise ecological ways of getting about, such as on foot, by bike, on public transport or via car-pooling rather than taking the car.
