Starting your university career often goes hand in hand with the search for student accommodation. This is a crucial step, and one that requires meticulous preparation of the application file.

Indeed, the application for student accommodation requires the presentation of a series of specific documents to enable the owner or manager to ensure the reliability of the future tenant.

Discover our TIPS to guide you through the process of putting together your housing application, so you can put all the chances on your side!

Before you start gathering documents, make sure you have a complete list of the documents required for your student housing application.

In general, the following documents are required from prospective tenants:

  • Identification: ID card, passport or residence permit.
  • Proof of enrolment: Certificate of enrolment for the current year.
  • RIB : Bank account statement
  • Last tax assessment or certificate of non-taxation/attachment to a tax household.
  • Last pay slips: if the student has a part-time or sandwich job.

For the guarantor, you have the option of taking on a physical or moral guarantor.

A physical guarantor must be someone close to you (a family member or friend...).

Here is a list of the documents most often requested in this case: ID, bank details, last 3 pay slips, proof of address, last tax assessment, salary certificate, last receipt or property tax.

If you opt for a moral guarantor, whether a company, bank or association, they will stand surety for you throughout your lease.

For example, Visale is a moral guarantor, and you can use it for your future student accommodation if you are between 18 and 30 years old. All you need to do is apply on the www.visale.fr website just before submitting your application for student accommodation, so that you have an up-to-date, certified Visale.

Please note: When preparing your application, transparency is essential. Don't hesitate to explain your entire situation; being honest from the outset builds trust with the student housing manager.
Organize your documents neatly and clearly. You can create a folder for this purpose! Make sure your documents are clean and legible.

At FAC-HABITAT, the process is simplified! Applicants wishing to obtain student accommodation "apply" by filling in an online form.

Once the accommodation has been allocated by the housing advisor, the applicant will receive an email with the list of supporting documents required. They can then simply enter them in their personal space!

Everything is done to simplify the process for future tenants.

Happy searching!
